GRIMS TO OPEN THE INLET RESTAURANT IN SOMERS POINT
SOMERS POINT, NJ – In May, Martin Grims, one of the region’s top restaurateurs, will open his fifth venture The Inlet, a casual restaurant and bar located on Great Egg Harbor bay at 998 Bay Avenue. The Inlet will offer an all-day menu of affordable American cuisine, creative cocktails and live entertainment, seven days a week. With stunning bay views, multiple decks for outdoor dining and boat slips with a dockside bar, Inlet is sure to become one of South Jersey’s most popular dining destinations.
“We are thrilled to become a part of the Somers Point community, says Grims, whose portfolio of highly successful restaurants includes The Moshulu in Philadelphia, PA, DuJour café and market in Haverford, PA, and Daddy O and The Plantation, both on Long Beach Island, NJ. “We want to create a year round restaurant with an inviting atmosphere and an enticing menu that appeals to everyone.”
Bayside picture windows will allow every guest in the 400-seat restaurant to enjoy gorgeous views of the harbor. In the lively lounge area, a circular bar with high back stools and comfortable banquet seating will offer the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a light bite, cold draft or a glass of wine from The Inlet’s extensive wine list.
The Inlet’s culinary team has created an all-day menu that includes tasty appetizers, sandwiches, chefs’ inspired entrees, shore classics and simply grilled dishes. Scrumptious appetizers and dishes to enjoy in the lounge or on the deck include: Steamed Littleneck Clams with casino butter and Parmesan toasted bread; Kobe Beef Burger; Tuna Nachos with cilantro and red chili; Short Rib Slider, with brie creamed spinach, crispy onion and wild mushroom; Tomato Portobello Stack, fresh mozzarella, basil and balsamic vinegar; Southwestern Steak Wrap; and Lobster Grilled Cheese with avocado salsa, roasted tomato and fennel sauce. Prices will range from $7 to $16.
Delectable entrée selections include: Pan Seared Mahi Mahi, with golden pineapple, coconut-lime rice, peanuts and Thai curry; Surf and Turf, Maine diver scallops, zinfandel braised short ribs, brie creamed leeks and parsnip cake; and Sauteed Chicken Breast with beef steak tomatoes, fresh Mozzarella and basil pesto. Guests will also enjoy classic shore specialties, such as: Crab Cakes, Baked Stuffed Flounder, Shrimp Scampi, and Lobster Bake. The Simply Grilled menu will present a variety of choice meat cuts and fresh seafood that are grilled to order and served with a choice of two side dishes and house made sauces.
Outside, The Inlet boasts one of South Jersey’s largest outdoor decks. With seating for 175 guests, an outdoor kitchen and an incredible selection of frozen drinks, The Inlet is sure to become a regular stop for people who want to dine on the water. Boaters will be able to dock at one of The Inlet’s 20 slips, before having a meal at the dockside bar. Grims plans to offer live outdoor entertainment seven days a week.
The Inlet will also offer two private dining areas, one with its own outdoor deck, for parties that can range from intimate gatherings to full scale events. Perfect for bayside weddings, bridal showers, birthday or retirement parties, The Inlet will create a memorable affair for any occasion guests wish to commemorate.

My husband and I have enjoyed a few delicious meals at the INLET. However we had the worst dinning experience of our lives Sunday afternoon August 26th. We sat on the upper deck near the rail and there was something wrong with our waiter, He was leaning on customers chairs trying to take orders. We asked for ice tea and placed our lunch order. It took him 3times to get it right he kept repeating back different things. After about 15 minutes he came back said he lost his pad and we needed to reorder. We again asked to have our ice tea. The table next to us was seated three times and the people left due to his strange behavior Food on his face the comment from the young lady was she had never been so grossed out and repeating back things they didn't ask for. After 30 minutes our meal came still no tea. One was right and one wrong. It was a manager I belive that brought the meal as he had an ear piece. I told him something was wrong with the waiter and he just smiled at me. My husbands sandwich was soggy as it had obviously sat somewhere to long. My meal was corrected and was good however by the time I got it my husband had finished his. Still no tea. I overheard the third set of people next to us trying to get their drinks and the people behind them that had a different waiter saying there was something wrong with ours. Now our waiter was coming to us saying they had no soup which we never asked for by the time we asked for our bill he came with one ice tea and told my husband they didn't have the beer he asked for we had never asked for beer. Asked about two more times for our bill. When we finally got it it has several things on it we never ordered or got including the tea. We took our bill went to the hostess desk and asked for a manager. She did correct the bill while another manager (I guess) listened to our complaint. I again told both of them there was something wrong with our waiter and he was going to loose them customers. The reply by the young lady was he's just having a bad day. If this had been our first experience we would never go there again as it is it will be quite awhile if ever. The staff as well as the food means everthing to the success of a restaurant and this restaurant is definitely lacking on the first!
