Treo, a contemporary new eatery is set to open on Thursday, November 8, 2007 in Linwood N.J. Treo offers a truly beautiful atmosphere, affordable menu, extensive wine and cocktail list, and is the only spot in Linwood that serves alcohol.

Offering a twist to conventional dining, Treo features a tasting menu that allows guests to sample 3 different dishes for one price, including Mozzarella Napoleon Caprese, Bacon Wrapped Scallops and Crispy Calamari all for $18.00. Other unique delights on the menu include Chef’s Surf Treo with fresh, seasonal fish prepared 3 ways and Chef’s Turf Treo with high-end meats prepared 3 ways. Other menu items include Charbroiled Filet, Cedar Plank Salmon and Rack of Lamb; all include vegetables and salad with prices beginning at $16.00.
Recently named Executive Chef, Dan McCabe has been in the restaurant industry since the age of 13. His passion for culinary arts took him to Johnson and Whales where he earned his culinary degree. Before joining the team at Treo, McCabe honed his skills at other notable eateries such as Bally’s Casino, Rock Bottom Oyster Bar, and Terra Nova.

"The opportunity to open such a fun, inventive restaurant in the heart of Cornerstone Commerce Center comes at such a great time. I could not have asked for a better space to create a sophisticated yet casual dining establishment. I am excited about sharing this new restaurant with the community of Linwood," says Dara Ellis, owner.

To complement the sumptuous cuisine is the exquisite yet comfortable and inviting atmosphere at Treo. The focal point of the restaurant is the great, round, wooden bar topped with large plasma screens, while elevated booth backs serve as a division between the bar and the dining area restaurant. Natural sunlight pours through the floor-to-ceiling windows that stretch around the perimeter of the restaurant. The tables, a rich mahogany color, balance the copper-colored carpet and cozy, oversized chairs.

I usually have a couple slices of their wood fired, brick oven pizza because their brushetta pizza and BBQ beef pizza is exceptional.
On my recent visit, I ordered the special, which was crab cake with spaghetti topped by lobster sauce. The crab cake was nicely flavored with flecks of pepper and lots of lump crab. It was a perfect lunch serving and I could not finish the spaghetti.
I ordered dessert, because Joe Massaglia told me that his tirimasu is the best-he may be right. What a slab of rum-soaked cake, filling and whipped cream. Two people can easily fill up on it.
Mama Mia's is a great pizza place for lunch, but their regular menu and specials are good, too.
Mama Mia's is coming to Atlantic County soon.
Voltaco's in Ocean City has the best cheesesteaks around. They use quality meat and really pack your sandwich. Not two tons of lettuce and an ounce of meat dealy. They really do it right. The cheese is melted throughout the sub, the tomatoes are fresh, the fried onions are fried to a golden brown, not a crisp white barely fried onion.
The Taccarino family really knows how to make a sub. Their Italian is pretty good, too. Well worth the trip into Ocean City.

There is no better pizza than Mack & Manco's for a regular slice, but if you like gourmet pizza Mangia by the Greens on Ocean Heights Avenue in Egg Harbor Township is the place to go. A co-worker and I ordered their Mediterranean pie last week for lunch. The 16" pizza was covered in Portabella mushrooms, red pepper slices and whole cloves of roasted garlic.
The roasted garlic was the real standout on the pie. It was plentiful and creamy and really a treat.
My lunch partner is a vegetarian, so were going to try the Somers Point next, with roasted red peppers and roasted garlic over Gorgonzola, ricotta and mozzarella cheese.
Check out their website for a menu, mangiabythegreens.com.
